Republic Day at A.M.U. Aligarh. Be the best in the Country- V.C. Zameer Uddin Shah aims

ALIGARH January 27: The Aligarh Muslim University celebrated Republic Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The Vice Chancellor, Lt. General Zameer Uddin Shah hoisted the national flag at the Strachey Hall and addressed the students and staff after the rendition of National Anthem.
The Vice Chancellor said that India is busy in strengthening the educational base of the country and AMU is also contributing its best to fulfill the goal. He said that efforts are being made to take AMU to number one position in the country by 2017 and earn for it a respectable position among the best 200 universities in the world.
Gen. Shah said that he has formulated a Vision Document-2020 for the University, which is available for review on AMU website. He said that he has envisioned the road map for comprehensive development of the University and its future course of action.
Gen. Shah said that two new faculties of International Studies and Environmental Studies will be established in the University and two residential halls for boys and girls are also in pipeline. He said that teaching methods are fast changing on global level and the academic parameters are being gauged by students’ exposure to modern means of excellence. He said that AMU is sincerely making efforts to bring as many smart classrooms to the University as it can. He said that he has invited all the sincere alumni of the University from all over the globe to take part in University’s development.
Lt. Gen. Shah informed that the University is organizing its annual convocation on February 27, 2014 and the Vice President of India, Shri Mohd. Hamid Ansari has been invited to deliver the convocation address as the Chief Guest.
He appreciated the role of University teachers and alumni of the University for their cooperation. He said that a sports complex is under construction which will provide in-house facilities of gymnasium, squash court and swimming pool.
AMU Registrar, Gr Cap (Retd) Shahrukh Shamshad conducted the proceedings. The Vice Chancellor, along with the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brigadier Syed Ahmad Ali and his wife, Mrs. Sabiha Simi Shah, distributed fruits to the patients admitted in the University Health Service.
